How To Become A Work At Home Affiliate

July 7, 2009 By Ron 3 Comments

Those individuals known as a work at home affiliate are thought to be in a business that is considered to be the easiest way to earn some money online today, affiliate marketing is now attracting a large number of individuals into owning their own websites so they can promote other people’s products for a commission of up to 75% for some products on Clickbank.

With the huge growth of this business and the very competitive nature you will need to make yourself stand out from the crowd if you truly wish to be success. The CEO of Clickbank has stated that only 1% of the 1,000,000 plus affiliates promoting products actually make enough money to make a living online.

You Need A Reliable Hosting Company

work at home affiliateSo to start with and if you are serious about working from home you need to have your own website as well as reliable hosting such as HostGator which is essential and if you are contemplating affiliate marketing for your long-term affiliate career.

Secondly, potential traffic will come from people who are mostly visiting sites to look for specific information in that niche. For the exact same reason you will also need a domain name that relates to that niche market so that it is simpler to recall for the visitor than a generic web address which you may be using for all you affiliate promotions.

As an example you are going to be promoting auto insurance as your affiliate campaign on your website so you would want something along the lines of www.autoinsurance.com not www.davesautosite.com.

You need to be as related as possible using the keywords in your money sites which you are targeting if you are going to be promoting specific products, and this is how you will make the big money online.

For each new product you are thinking about promoting as a work at home affiliate you will need a new domain name and content to populate the new site to draw in visitors this is why we use a reseller account at HostGator, firstly it’s affordable and very reliable and secondly you can sell any domains that you don’t want and usually charge hosting costs to the new webmaster for at least the first twelve months which is another way of generating a passive income.

 You Need To Get Creative

Another tactic you can use to stand out from the crowd is to design your own ads as many of the affiliates tools that are provided by the sellers are exactly the same and can appear hundreds of times all over the internet making your customers blind to your marketing efforts if you are using banner advertising the same as every body else.

All you need to do is send an email to the product vendor of your affiliate program and ask them if you could design your own advertisements such as banners.

With using this tactic and if your banners look professional, individuals might not be banner blind to your ads, as you probably already know as it happens to you seeing the exact same advertisements repeatedly on the internet, it also has the potential for your visitors to simply bypass it completely and usually your website as well.

Besides, your primary idea is to attract or encourage people to click and read your advertisements and articles and have the curiosity to click-through the site.

Consider Creating Products To Sell Online

This is hard for those starting out and especially those that are a work at home affiliate’s but after some time online try to create a few products of your own such as e-books which are only available through your website because it is important to have some products or services that your customers cannot locate anywhere else online.

To be a success in the search engines and to maintain high rankings for your online business you need your consumers to continue coming to your site and this is the best way to achieve this. Being an affiliate marketer you must then choose a specific marketing niche in which you could dominate by being in the top three positions of at least Google making you a potential authority or at the very least a strong challenger role.

Another tactic you can use is to create a strong working relationship with people who already subscribe to your product or service. To do this however you need to be able to offer a professional level of service, it is best to try or buy the product for yourself, and overtime if you are successful you will have these product vendors approaching you to promote their products and you will be receiving their products or services for free.

With that specific idea in mind, you could more efficiently market the merchandise which you are trying to market as an affiliate.

You can share to your potential customers what a great experience you had with this product or service, and that could get them curious enough to purchase the product. One thing you need to be very aware of online is if you find a product you are promoting is a scam, stop promoting it and inform the readers about this on your blog or website, don’t just remove and not talk about it, as it will help you build credibility with your lists and website subscribers.

The most important of all is this DON’T TRY TO MARKET EVERYTHING that you see especially if you are promoting products from Clickbank, it is very easy to become overwhelmed and try to market everything within Clickbank’s Marketplace, this tactic is a formula for failure you will lose focus on what your objectives are and possibly lose interest altogether.

It really isn’t a good idea, I have been there and it nearly destroyed my business online it’s better to focus on a single market place this is known as niche marketing and promote products or services in that niche only. Once that website is completely established and making a good income move onto the next niche market that you would like to promote.

And remember the golden rules make sure you are advertising a product or service, which conforms to your niche and that has a very low refund rate, products that you promote with a high refund rate will damage your credibility. To be successful you need to stay clear of the temptation of making a fast buck from a sub-standard fad products.

It’s not the affiliates that decide what to purchase but rather the customer that chooses exactly what to buy and not the company, your online business merely produces products or services that hopefully will be serving the needs and wants of their related searches which will place your site directly in front of them so that they can click on the affiliates links generating an affiliate income and making you a successful work at home affiliate.

This is great advice, I wish I had read about a year ago. I have tried many affiliate programs, rather than sticking to just one. I get all excited when I see a new product that I think my readers just “got to have!” Unfortunately, my readers rarely feel the same. I believe you are correct in your advice to stick with one product and make sure it matches your niche market.

      Hi Thanks For The post

Yes this is one area that many affiliates fail badly… You really need to stay focused by only picking products that are specific to your niche and not to many. By sticking to this strategy you should see an increase in sales and if you have a optin list (You Should Be) it should increase subscribers with less unsubscribes.

Another problem with promoting to many programs is the fact that you never really focus on what needs to be done to make sales with any of your affiliate promotions as you are to busy and to distracted with all the new products being released and you never really correctly promote the products that can make you money.
