Golden Rules Of Affiliate Marketing

March 23, 2009 By Ron 6 Comments

Two Basic Rules You Need To Know About Affiliate Marketing

Golden Rules Of Affiliate MarketingTwo basic rules should be in your face and be plastered on every door in your house. But not to get to extreme you really need to have these rules in front of your face daily.

Rule Number One
Try everything “Never Give Up” and “Disregard” things that don’t work fast.

Rule Number Two
Monitor everything. Using a programs like Tracker.ly which will monitor all of your affiliate link activity, while a program like [Adspy Tracker No Longer Viable] from Matt Callen will track any of your AdSense campaigns for you.

Sticking to  these two rules is the only way to tell if your affiliate marketing program is effective. In the main, campaigns that contain promotions convert more effectively. This practice assists an interested client become a purchaser. Combining an irresistible offer with a marketing campaign also ensures that the program will be more timely and original and this is bound to make the affiliate happier.

What Strategy Should You Use?

Most of the graphical banners used in the affiliate marketing arena are now somewhat passe. The top rated affiliate marketers are using opt-in email campaigns to direct customers to websites so that they can buy products or services on the merchant’s site. A “frequently asked questions” or a “Tips Section” is also a tremendous confidence builder for the new prospect or a returning customer.

Using a campaign such as that will give your customers an overview of the program you are promoting, and any additional promotions, and any other relevant questions. Also adding credibility to the content you are sending them.

Communication between you and your prospective clients can’t be stressed enough whether through blog posts or email marketing, and you may opt to provide a newsletter as part of your overall affiliate marketing strategy. To do this you need to make sure you stay informed of all the new affiliate marketing trends and up to date with the latest product releases which is where the money is going to be for your business, as these are going to push the market you are promoting in.

If you’re not at the top of your game with this, then it will appear that you’re out of touch which will eventually effect your income, as you will lose the trust of your site visitors and subscribers. You can always count on something new being developed and today’s development is tomorrow’s way of doing business online.

You Need Commitment

Being committed to the cause is being dedicated to generating money online, and if you are a serious affiliate marketer you will be . You need goals to be set and to be followed. If your plan is to be a super affiliate, then you can count on that happening before very long. It is a great benefit to you if you can find a super affiliate to emulate and learn from, using a program like affiliate elite can save you many hours of research when trying to do this.

You may come across that one small thing that makes them super and it is usually something very uncomplicated, and you can use that in your own affiliate marketing strategy.

If your affiliate marketing strategy is on track, and your affiliate effort is hitting on all the right areas, like achieving high search engine rankings, it’s not uncommon to expect anywhere from a $1,000 to $10,000 a month just by selling the products or services on other vendors web sites especially through ClickBank where payout rates can be as high as 75%.

As an affiliate marketer myself I have had the pleasure of making upwards of $600 a day and have done this consistently for the last three years now. however during the financial crisis this has dropped away considerably since writing this post.

It’s All About The Right Mindset

Still, the journey begins when you change the mindset to be completely open to trying anything that may bring about a result, however leave out the black hat tactics they will only hurt your efforts – and then to test and test again (also known as Split Test) until you come up with a winning combination.

Stay committed, you are going to have good days and bad with affiliate marketing, but if you stay focused and follow the goals you have set for yourself you will succeed as an affiliate marketer.

I’m somewhat a novice when it comes to online marketing, but always eager to learn new skills which can benefit me down the road. Your first rule is interesting – I’ve always thought that while persistence and a never-say-die attitude is important, it’s equally important to know when something isn’t working, and to move on.

      Hi Sam

Yes you are right, if you are trying to promote something online and it just is not making any sales for you then there comes a time where you need to make the decision to move on and try something else.
