Understanding The Benefits And Effectiveness Of Article Marketing

November 20, 2009 By Ron 2 Comments

Being in the affiliate marketing industry one thing you realize very fast is that you need to have a complete understanding about article marketing.

However the truth to this is that most affiliates don’t understand what it is and how it can increase traffic and sales very fast and become a great marketing tool for their online businesses.

As an affiliate you have an online business whether you believe that or not, and article marketing can help market your business at no cost while branding you and you business across the internet. And most of us really like the idea of “Free”, that’s for sure?

Below is the first post of a series of tips and advice I will be sharing with you on how to get started and follow through with article marketing to promote your online business.

Before you get set out to begin your article marketing, you have to research your market and then write an article that is relevant to the audience you want to attract.

There are some online who truly enjoy writing and you will see that reflected in their websites or blogs that are being updated with new content every day.

However there are others that just don’t know where to begin with article writing.

So Where Should You Begin

benefits article marketingChoose a topic that is geared towards your online business. It should be relevant to the product or service that you offer. If you write about online dating and you sell pet accessories, you will be drawing in the wrong target market to your site.

Nearly all the article marketing websites accept articles that are approximately 300 words or more and allow you to have at least two URL links. Your goal should be to write a compelling and helpful article which to make it really effective should be around 500 words.

You can make your articles smaller but the optimum and most popular seems to be articles with 500 words or more that are submitted. Do some research before writing the article and then decide on what you think will capture the intended reader’s attention.

Why Is Article Marketing So Effective For Online Business

Once you have crafted you article you then submit your targeted article to different article directory sites, once this happens and if your article has addressed a specific concern or problem in your targeted niche then many webmasters who use these directories will come through looking for articles to place on their sites and all for “free” for them to place your article on their website.

Of course it is in the terms of use from the article directories that, your byline and resource box must stay with the article in order for them to use it. This is what will be giving you the extra boost for your online business that in that byline you have links to your online site.

Write about something that you know will be popular to readers. If your online business offers makeup products, you may want to write how-to make up techniques.

If your online business is geared towards an informational website, you may be able to use something you have written for your own site. If you use something that is written on your website, you must change at least half of it so that it’s not word for word.

Many of the article marketing websites look for article submissions that have not been published before but it’s easy enough to put a new spin on articles that you have written for your own website or blog. You just need to take that article that you have crafted your self and then re-write it, meaning changing the way the paragraphs are written and even using additional synonyms to make your article at minimum 30% different from the original.

You can also get about what you should be writing about with article marketing from feedback that will be placed on your blog from readers and should be able to find something that you can write about very easily.

Putting It All Together

The components of your article should have a catchy keyword title, an opening introduction, body and end. Some articles leave you hanging at the end with an abrupt end. You want to write an article so that readers walk away with new information that they found through you.

Once you have submitted your first marketing article, it could take anywhere from a few days to a week or even a month for some article directory websites to publish it on their site. It’s important to read the author’s terms and guidelines on any of the article websites you will be submitting your articles to. If the website does approve articles after a month, you want to make sure your topic is still relevant.

For example, if it’s geared towards Father’s Day, you want to get the article in before the deadline.

Make sure that any article you submit you have taken the time to proof read it and don’t rely on other tools to correct spelling or bad grammar issues. You also need to ensure you have a resource box filled with your author name and website URL’s through text links that you want the readers to click on and then come to your site.

      Hi Ryan

Yes you really need to steer clear of any sales pitch from your articles make them factual, helpful and to the point what you want to do is make yourself look like a expert in your field and then people will follow your article back to your site where you can then have some sort of sales pitch to them.
