The Google+1 option is getting a lot of buzz these days.
Everyone wants to know how to best exploit the feature to get more traffic to their online business.
Will You Get Better Rankings?
First of all, let me debunk a common myth. The +1 button does not affect your Google ranking. Many people seem to think that getting a lot of +1s will boost their rank, but this won’t happen.
That’s not what the Google+1 button is for. Get everything you need to know to start Mastering Google+1.
The +1 button allows you to share a link to your stream on Google+. What this does is get the link more exposure through the Google+ network, but not on the Google search engine itself.
To make the most of the +1 feature, be sure to add a +1 button to every page of your website and every blog post.
You can get the code for your button and customize its appearance at: http://www.google.com/webmasters/+1/button/index.html
This code can be added to any web page or blog post, allowing anyone who comes across your content to use the +1 feature on the link. You should always +1 your blog posts so your contacts see it, and don’t forget to encourage people to +1 the link themselves.Follow this link to read more about how to add Google+1 on your website or blog.
Remind them that it would be very helpful if they did, because the more people who do it, the more exposure you get.
WordPress Users Can Use A Plugin
You can also add a +1 button to your WordPress blog without messing with code at all by using one of the available WordPress plugins: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/plus-one-button/ or this one http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-google-plus-one-button/. If you know of any others that should be added here please let us know.
Don’t forget to +1 the posts of other people in your circle. Many of them will notice and do the same thing for you. This could be especially important when those people are very influential in your niche or have a lot of people in their circles. You can also import Facebook contacts into Google+1.

Hi Ron,
This is a great post. I have to disagree with one thing though. The +1 can and does effect SERPs. It may not effect the actual algorithm for the majority of users, but what it does effect is what the person who +1 sees when they search and slowly effects their followers on Circles/+ who interact with them frequently. If the page that was +1’d is relevant for other queries, it starts to show up for searches for that person and potentially some of their group or circle, even if it doesn’t show up for the rest of the world. This is why I always log out of Google now. My SERPs got messed up for a couple of terms if I don’t log out.
Great post!

Hi Adam
Thanks for the update this is what we want, people like you that are actually using Google+ to add their feedback about their experiences and results that they are receiving through using this service.
Yes Adam you are right about that point where the person will see the result that they have +1’d as well as those inside of their circles overtime if they are logged into their Google account. I have also found this with Google, you need to be logged out of your account to get a true measure of your ranking in the Serps.
