Buying And Selling Websites Getting The Right Price

March 19, 2010 By Ron 2 Comments

If you want to get into buying and selling websites then you are going to need to understand how to go about pricing the website that you wish to flip. The first time you decide to list a website for sale it can be a very daunting task, especially if you’re new to the very profitable online business of buying and selling websites.

buying and selling websitesMake sure that you conduct your own research when buying and selling websites and don’t rely on others is the key in any business venture and you’ll find that you may have to do quiet a bit of it in the at the start of your site flipping enterprise.

The niche market that may have been hot today can significantly decline if it gets over saturated quickly or is in a very limited niche market.

For instance, there are lots and lots of turnkey websites on such topics as affiliate marketing or the best online web hosting sites. If you do a quick Google™ search, you will discover over 100,000 sites on it and 90% of them have the same look and feel to it.

You can bet that there are many people who are making the same cookie cutter websites in huge batches and reselling them under different domain names to many unsuspecting buyers.

For those buyers that are not prepared to do their research there is a very good chance that you will pay for something that is not worth the price. The end result to this is that you will be spending hundreds of dollars on the same website someone else has already purchased with the only difference being is that it has a different domain name.

Don’t Try And Sell Cookie Cutter Websites

If you are going to even start making a profit on any websites you are intending on selling then make sure that they are more than just a cookie cutter websites. Cookie cutter websites are basically online websites that have the exact same look, article content and and even exact website topic, which virtually makes them nothing more then duplicate content sites which will be worth nothing to you.

The fastest identifying feature of these sites is that they are under unoriginal domain names with usually unpopular extensions such as .tv, .biz, .info and so on. These websites are more often than, nothing more than turnkey websites or even auto content generating blog type sites.

You don’t want to be branded in the online community as the website seller who makes generic sites for sale. You business expectations will be very limited if that is the case.

When Buying And Selling Websites You Need To Know How To Correctly Price It To Sell

In order to price your website for buying and selling, there are many factors to take into account. Once you have completed the site you are then ready to list it up for sale, if you have done your research correctly you should have a great domain. If you had previously purchased the website and are flipping it, purchasing a new keyword rich domain can do wonders for a website sale.

It really will not matter if it’s the same or similar name but different extension. You can definitely get more money if you opt for a .com domain versus an .net or .org domain.

You Can Get More From Buying And Selling Websites If You Can Create A Buzz

You can do this simply by attracting in potential buyers if it’s an established site. Make sure you always play up the targeted website traffic that the site is bringing in daily. If it’s monetized, point out the fact that it can make even more profit by finding other c and services to add to it.

Let the buyer know how many back links to the site you have and whether they are reciprocal or on way back links if it is an established website you are flipping.

Buyers are always on the look out for quality sites and a cheaper price so its in their best interests to want to know if it’s been online for a couple of years and has more than a few hundred or even thousands of back links pointing to it.

This at the end of the day means less work for the potential buyer’s and a much better chance of you getting the selling price for your website flipping efforts.

A Good Place To List Is Sitepoint To Start Buying And Selling Websites

If you choose to advertise your website for sale on popular sites such as Sitepoint (Flippa), you can start the bidding price as low as you like. It’s a known fact that low prices can generate a lot more bids even if you have capped it off at a much higher asking price.

You need to understand one simple aspect when flipping websites and that is, buyers will always want more for their money, and will always try and capitalize on what they are getting with your website. You will find that most online buyers start out looking to buy high priced websites, they will make every effort to find something lower even it’s in the premium website section.

The key here when buying and selling websites is to think like a buyer and you will sell your website even faster and potentially for more money.

So the key points here are simply this to “buying and selling websites“, conduct some research about your niche market, go and get yourself a .com domain name, create the site (WordPress Blog Preferably) then create quality unique content and populate your blog with it.

Add some advertising whether this is affiliate programs, Adsense™ or banner advertising. Once you start putting all this together then write some quality articles to get some quality back links from the article directories or related blogs you are then ready to start buying and selling websites.

i have been looking to buy an establish website.
My concern is about transferring ownership.
As a buyer i would need an company or a theirs party that would withhold a deposit before transaction is completed.
And during the process i would need to have an contract agreement in case the seller has mislead me.

Is there someone who would care to comment about having done a similar transaction.
