June 9, 2009 By Ron 4 Comments

They are so many misconceptions, myths and false truths surrounding affiliates online today.

So much so  that the average person would have problems ever starting an online business, let alone avoiding the many pitfalls that are just waiting for the unwary newbie.

Let alone avoiding many of the affiliate marketing mistakes, although many people believe that this is a marketplace capable of giving them huge amounts of money and fame overnight.

It’s a real fact that this form of marketing is quite profitable, however people who have gone through all the hurdles to triumph in this business actually reap the seeds that they untiringly sowed, not those with a get rich quick mentality.

Affiliate Marketing Mistakes

Many of those people love this type of existence that wasn’t at all possible for them to possess under ordinary circumstances.

Yes I am one of those with not actually having what people call a real job since 2001 and the best thing about this business is that as the internet grows so does my income, how many of you can claim to get a $20,000 USD plus pay rise every year without ever having to sit an interview with a boss.

Ignorance of that reality is one of the main reasons why there are people who fall short in the affiliate business.

There are individuals that have wasted time, effort and excessive funds in attempting to get that cushy lifestyle that they believe this business would give to them in a very short time.

Therefore, they head off into this marketplace armed with nothing more than misconceptions, misinformation and unrealistic dreams of money on their minds, without understanding that they’re going to make many mistakes that might prove to be their downfall and more often than not usually is.

My aim here is to show you that just like any other industry you are involved in, there’s many things to do, as well as not to do in this business if you wish to make each of your affiliate campaigns or marketing strategies profitable.

Mistakes To Avoid

The first common mistake affiliates commit to is their complete lack of knowledge concerning the principles involving their online business and this refers to their knowledge of search engines in particular and how they actually work.

The next of our affiliate marketing mistakes is that many affiliates opt to fill their websites with banners that do not give enough info regarding the advertised product and some even go off topic with these banners in a desperate measure to generate some form of income online.

The best way to fix this problem is to provide well written quality content about your niche market along with those advertisements that are relevant to your target audience, you will have much more of a chance in getting clicks by doing it that way.

It is important for customers to know and understand the features of a product, and good quality content not copied or duplicate content will be able to assist the person understand that objective and give you the trust of your website visitors.

The third of these affiliate marketing mistakes which is made is the fact that there are affiliates who just start advertising a single product and as a consequence, website visitors aren’t given enough choices so they leave without passing through your money link.

There’s additionally the risk of generating too few sales as compared to possessing additional choices for consumers to think about, therefore it’s better to give them a couple alternate choices than to give them only one.

You can do this simply by reviewing products that are in the same niche as your website or having a navigation link on your site that is listing the top products in your niche. Use your imagination to come up with unique ways to present products to your website visitors.

The fourth thing is the fact that there are affiliates who commit the error of advertising too many products, making customers become confused or even mistrusting of your intentions. It’s perhaps good to provide them just the best choices because it’s in the long run up to them to judge which one is better.

You Need To Be Persistent

Overall, affiliates that are going to fail in this business are those people who don’t exert enough effort and time to understand everything that is actually involved in affiliate marketing. Understanding just the basics will ultimately help them to avoid many of the affiliate marketing mistakes which is a big help for them to get started and stay focused, as there is no other method to make it online with affiliate marketing than to go slowly.

It is a constant learning curve with affiliate marketing and to make money you need to be able to adapt to the market place and launch a new campaign with only a few days notice. This is how the big affiliates do it which enables them to end up with 99% of all the profits.

      Hi Jonathon

Yes you are right, most have heard of this principle, K.I.S.S which of course stands for “Keep It Simple Stupid” this isn’t meant to insult anyone but to show that the best option is to keep things as simple as possible firstly to avoid to much confusion and overload and secondly to allow you to get on with building your online business. It’s fine to learn as you go but trying to get to much information to fast can also stop you in your tracks and make your online efforts suffer.
