How To Start Affiliate Marketing On the Right Foot

December 3, 2010 By Ron 2 Comments

With a new year right around the corner, now is the time to start your affiliate marketing journey if you’ve ever been thinking about this line of business.

All the good things they say about affiliate marketing are true; primarily, it’s one of the few legitimate businesses in the world where you can create true passive income that will allow you to live life on your own terms.

Monitor Successful Affiliate Marketing Experts Who Came Before You…

Affiliate MarketingThe key, however, is making sure you start off on the right foot. If you fumble around — the trial and error approach — you are bound to achieve limited success and then quickly burn out thereafter. You might even conclude incorrectly and cynically that affiliate marketing doesn’t work.

The key is to monitor affiliate marketers who have come before you and blazed a path of success. As obvious as this might sound, too many people still try to figure out everything for themselves, due to ego or pride.

Don’t be one of them.

Back in 2001 when I decided to start affiliate marketing, I sought out those voices of experience who spoke to me. The type of person who resonates with me may be different than for you. I think the key here is to find someone who is generating a useful income employing the types of marketing strategies that fit your own personality well.

For me, because I was on a limited budget, I knew I could spend ‘sweat equity’ a lot more than I could spend cash. That’s why I was naturally drawn to learn methods that allowed me to generate traffic for free like search engine optimization, article marketing, joint ventures, and so forth. I learned from people like Allan Gardyne and Phil Wiley, the latter of whom I would appear in an E-book with in 2005.

Affiliate Marketing Starts With Learning

For others who may have a little money in the bank and like things to be quickly scalable, learning how to do pay-per-click can achieve results much faster; therefore, learning from a PPC expert may be the right path for you if this describes your situation and temperament.

Maybe you’ve heard about all the people blogging for big bucks. And, indeed, there are many 6 figure bloggers out there. If pumping out a consistent stream of content on a topic of interest sounds appealing to you, you may have what it takes to make a living blogging as long as you choose a profitable niche.

I have a friend in NY who got to a multiple six figure a year passive income with his Internet marketing business much quicker than I did simply because I took him under my wing and taught him everything I knew.

Now, you may not have 24/7 access to a close friend who is very successful in Internet marketing, but you certainly do have the ability to monitor affiliate marketers who are successful, whether reading their newsletters and acting on their advice like the excellent one provided here at AffiliateXFiles, or signing up for a couple inexpensive training programs like what you will find on offer at Affiliate Article Writers.

Whatever road you choose, and whomever you choose to follow, your most important decision right now is to take action and start your affiliate marketing journey today. Take the time to read what Dan Ho has to say at Affiliate Article Writers.
