How To Back Up A WordPress Blog In Minutes

October 13, 2010 By Ron 4 Comments

To back up a WordPress blog can be a real nightmare for many… here’s why!

Yes I know what you are going to say, but there are numerous plugins that can do this for you, however you would be wrong, not like this. Yes these backup WP plugins do actually backup a WordPress blog but then you have to follow many steps to actually get it activated again if something goes wrong.

You Can Use Your Server To Back Up A WordPress Blog

What is really happening when you  back up a WordPress blog, is it all the information or just parts of your WordPress blog. What about the draft posts, comments, tags. links and all the other settings that are associated with your many WP plugins, one mistake and they can all be lost forever.

Oh yes and lets not forget about having your server backup your WordPress blog as well. Again you have to be capable of uploading all the associated files into your servers database to get the site operational. Do you even know how to access your WordPress database?

You Will Not Need Any Technical Experience

But there actually is a better way, where your complete WordPress blog is backed up very easily and without having too much technical experience. No it is not another WordPress plugin…

So if you know your Cpanel access details and can use a ftp program you can then backup a WordPress blog easily…

As you can see these two guys Jason Fladlien & Wilson Mattos have created this script “WP Twin” to be brain-dead simple, it does nearly all the work for you and captures everything. When they say it clones, what you get is a perfect copy of whatever WordPress blog you used the WP Twin script on….

As an affiliate marketer I have many sites all over the internet and to back up a WordPress blog for me is a very time-consuming and frustrating job, but it has to be done. Now I just plugin this script follow the easy steps and bang…. backup a WordPress blog.

I have a complete working clone of an existing WordPress site, no headaches no frustration or wasted time, it is really that easy and it does not matter what version of WordPress you are running on your site.

WP Twin Will Not Only Back Up A WordPress Blog

Back Up a WordPress BlogWP Twin is not just a back up script you can copy, backup, restore and move any WordPress blog you own. That is complete with everything working the way it was on the old server…

As I have said if you have ever tried moving a WordPress blog manually or tried to restore a back up of a WordPress blog after a hacker attack or server crash then you will know how valuable this script is…

Visit Wp Twin and watch as Jason deletes a complete membership site, and I mean a working site, then restores it back to an exact working copy within minutes with a simple few mouse clicks.

Yes WP Twin will back up a WordPress blog or move any WordPress blog you have including plugins, comments, tags, affiliate links, footers the whole lot! An exact copy….

Take the headache and the frustration out of  having to know how to back up a WordPress blog let WP Twin take care of it for you….

      Hi Adam,

Glad I could help, I spent a lot of time trying to find a good solution that did not require a lot of technical skills to get it done.

I have been using Robert Plank’s Back Up Creator which obviously wasn’t available when you wrote this post. Have you checked it out?

      Hi Jonathon

I don’t use any additional software now for backup except for a free backup plugin which is auto run each week and once a month I use the export function in WordPress –> Tools –> Export to make sure I have a fresh copy of my site. You can then simply install your WordPress blog on a new server and import all your settings including your theme onto the new blog.

The backup creator plugin looks like a good choice for anyone that is building WordPress blogs for clients especially if they are building the sites using all the same tools and plugins would make it very fast.
