Benefits Of Being An Affiliate Marketer

January 30, 2012 By Ron 2 Comments

One of the best and most effective methods of internet advertising is what is known as affiliate marketing.

Understanding The Role

Benefits of Being An Affiliate MarketerIn this marketing model, the site owner (or affiliate) allows a site to be used for promotion of someone else’s product or service by linking to the website of the seller / product vendor.

Each time the link is clicked through, the website receives a commission from the seller if a sale is made. Sometimes, this is also setup so that the affiliate receives a commission which is usually only cents in the dollar similar to Adsense when there is a lead generated as well from the click-through.

The affiliate marketer and the person with something to sell both do well in an affiliate marketing setup. For the seller, a wider potential market is being reached (meaning more traffic). The affiliate receives some extra passive income streams for doing essentially nothing.

Both sides benefit; this is truly a win-win scenario.

Greater exposure for the seller, and of course more traffic being driven to their site which helps their ranking in search engines. And of course some of this increased traffic will result in sales as well.

Basically, affiliate marketing is like having a large workforce who only need be paid if a sale is made or a lead is generated.

As An Affiliate Marketer You May Get Additional Benefits

The affiliate gets other benefits as well. Besides the commission, if those who have clicked through the affiliate’s site tell their friends, the affiliate may get more traffic to their own site as well, which can help them if they have a product or service to sell.

Even if their interest is merely getting some information to the public, increased traffic is a bonus to them.

For the stay at home workforce, affiliate marketing provides an easy second income. With no real overhead to speak of, and a product dealt with entirely by someone else, you need only to find prospects.

The more prospects, the more money there is for everyone. All of this can be done while doing other work from home, for instance, with a less than full-time commitment needed.

Affiliate Networks are usually free to join as well, so add no start-up costs to the long list of pros for getting into affiliate marketing. With the many affiliate networks out there related to any product or service you can think of, finding an affiliate program which meshes well with the content of your website should be a snap.

Also, unlike most types of sales or marketing efforts, no sales experience is needed. Marketing material is provided by most affiliate programs, and affiliate marketing is an inherently simple venture requiring little in the way of your time.

You don’t even need to leave your home to make money in affiliate marketing!

Again, all you need to do is find prospective buyers for the product or service offered by the seller.

The product itself is something you need never even see, let alone inventory, warehouse, etc. This is the sellers business.

A Word Of Warning: If you are selling digital products or services as an affiliate marketer online it is advisable for you to have tried these services first. Do not promote a product that claims to make money unless it really does. This is the fastest way to lose credibility and the trust of your website visitors.

Finding prospects is not a difficult task. Think about the sheer size of the internet as a market. No matter how marginal the appeal of the product or service being sold, you can reach literally thousands who are in the market for exactly that product or service. The internet also allows you to use innovative marketing strategies that would not be an option offline.

The risk involved in affiliate marketing is also basically nil – with no start-up costs, you can simply ditch a product which is not performing to your expectations and choose another. There are no long-term contracts in affiliate marketing, so you are free to pursue whatever course will maximize your income.

Of course, the number one benefit of affiliate marketing is very simple: making more money. Even as a sideline, affiliate marketing can earn you some extra money for a minimal investment of your time and effort.

Starting you own affiliate marketing business is also a possibility; this however will involve more effort on your part and a greater time investment from you. Either way, affiliate marketing can be a relatively simple, yet rewarding opportunity for you.

I have been an affiliate marketer for more than ten years now, I no longer work for a boss and don’t intend to in the distant future, affiliate marketing when done correctly can give you great rewards and many benefits the biggest of these being the freedom to do as you like without having to consider your working hours.

Affiliate marketing has allowed me to take holidays all over the world while my income constantly grows and without all the related stress of a 9 to 5 job. If you are serious about making money online and don’t have a viable product to sell then consider affiliate marketing as your way to starting your online career.

Hey, Ron! Great article. When someone makes the decision of becoming an affiliate marketer, he should seriously think about the starting niche. This is also very important.
