Having An Affiliate Marketing Strategy Is Your First Step To Success

October 23, 2009 By Ron 4 Comments

Are you going to dive head first into affiliate marketing without first mapping out your affiliate marketing strategy.

So many people hear about this business and think immediately that they are going to make it big. And please don’t get me wrong some do, whether it is just dumb luck or good planning nobody can be sure for certain.

An Affiliate Marketing Strategy Increases Your Chances Of Success

Affiliate Marketing Strategy SuccessHowever there is one thing that is certain and that is if you don’t have a solid affiliate marketing strategy it can be a disadvantage for novice affiliates entering the affiliate marketing business for the first time.

Many new affiliates have the concept in their minds that they can earn big money fast simply by diving into a marketing campaign they think is good enough.

But this can result in a major disappoint and the loss of funds if they do not first research everything they can about the market such as its trends, traffic, etc and have their own affiliate marketing strategy that will set them apart from the others.

When creating your affiliate marketing strategy you have to be mindful that it needs to be practical and will create positive results overtime which can be extremely beneficial for affiliates who are genuinely interested in being successful online.

If however you set your strategies to be unobtainable thinking you are going to be making thousands in the fist month you could be in for some disappointments.

Your First Affiliate Marketing Strategy Should Be Choosing Your Marketing Platform And Hosting

Even before you decide on your niche market you will need to consider what kind of site you will be using to promote affiliate products from. Will it be a static html site or maybe a site from Blogger.com or even WordPress these are considerations you need to be thinking about right from the start including what hosting company (we use Hostgator) you will use.

For those that want to do this form of marketing and have heard you can do it for free then you need to take a step back take a look at the many top ranked sites in what ever niche you want to enter and you will see that not to many free sites get a mention.

A good affiliate marketing strategy would usually cover a step-by-step process on how an affiliate can convert their prospects into leads. Having a website, especially the homepage that is attractive and professional and has an opt-in list where the visitor’s name as well as their email addresses can be captured, can be a strength in getting those leads into the list.

In addition to this, another affiliate marketing strategy should be examined in order to carry out an email series in order to turn this lead into a customer.

If You Have A Good Product To Promote Then Most Of The Promotional Materials You
Need Will Be Supplied By The Product Vendor.

Your planning will definitely have to revolve around your skills that you currently have about creating websites and design. If those skills are limited then you should opt for a WordPress or Blogger.com site. WordPress is a lot more flexible with the use of what is called plug-ins and many big name marketers use this platform.

The Next Affiliate Marketing Strategy Is Choosing Which Niche Market To Start With

The easy the better is always best but in saying that you really would need to get lucky to find a market such as that. You need to get yourself a good keyword tool such as Wordtracker (seven-day free trial) or even Traffic Travis (free) and start taking a look at your market for such things as visitors in relation to keywords and the competition that you will be competing against.

You might also consider using long tail keywords to initially start your site off and as you get more comfortable with marketing and traffic growth you could go after more profitable keywords. You might want to take a look at our article marketing to get more information on this.

Type the keywords you want into Google search as this search engine has the bulk of daily searches to see how many websites are trying to rank for that keyword. Anything more than 10,000 sites when you first start out can be difficult to get to the top without having to payout extra money for additional services. Once you find a market you are satisfied with you then need to pick your first product to promote.

Being Focused Is A Important Part of Your Affiliate Marketing Strategy

When planning your marketing strategy you will have to be focused on the entire sales process from start to finish. You have to be looking at the process from the moment a potential client clicks on the link of the advertisement on your site to the moment he or she visits the merchant to purchase or learn more about the product.

The first thing you need to address is how professional the vendors website is, would you buy from this site and if not why would one of your leads.

You will need to go to the vendors website and actually follow the complete process of buying the product stopping short of actually entering your credit card details (Even though good affiliates will purchase any product they promote). You do this to see how hard or easy it is for your potential customer to actually buy the product.

Getting Leads (Subscribers) And Keeping Them

From the time you get a lead (subscriber) does not automatically mean that you’ve got yourself a customer or sale. If you are to have sales and make a good profit, there should be post-sale follow ups in the form of posts on your blog or through email contact such as a newsletter.

Making sure you have an achievable marketing strategy is the first step in bringing customers to your affiliate site. A professional and user-friendly website with a number of free offers can definitely attract potential clients to your site. In today’s market it is a core thing to do to increase sales and develop a trustworthy relationship with your potential customers.

Always have a reason for the customer to return to your website in the future such as a special promotion or an important blog post. That is another reason that blogs have become so popular with marketers. Check out our articles on blogging.

If you are to have a competitive edge over the other players in the business, it is always better to have an affiliate marketing strategy that is well thought out this will help you realize your vision and business goals.

I agree that it is not best to just dive in to whatever you think will give you money. It is always best to familiarize yourself with everything first before making a move. Research is really important.

So many people today are after the fast money and even when they find it they very quickly realize that it does not last very long and then they have to start all over again. You need to research your market, then build a site around that market to make sure you have a good long term business.

Yes Dave it is a very sad fact…

And the internet has followed suit so many people want to make huge amounts of money for little work, and you are very right in saying it does not work.

The only successful online business will be those that as you say, do their market research, create a site focused around that niche and then start to build long term relationships with others in their marketplace.
