While blogging for profit it may appear to be lucrative to create a blog there are some things you need to be aware of that there are disadvantages to blogging for profit, you need to know the whole story before you go in head first and decide to do one on your own.
There are of course disadvantages to everything in life, and this concept “blogging for profit” is no different. You may have heard of all the stories about how people are making money from blogging and even online courses that have been released called blogging for profit, but you should wait until you see the dark side of it as well.
Finding The Right Advertising
The first hurdle you need to overcome with blogging for profit is the concept of advertising on your blogs. There are principally three ways in which you can have advertising placed on your blog – directly from the advertisers, through an affiliate program and using another company’s pay per click ad schemes.
The first method is very tough and needs you to do quite a bit of scouting around to find advertisers directly who want to advertise on your blog.
You see, advertisers can sign up with an online company like Google for a lesser amount and have their ad shown in multiple websites which has content relevant to their company. Hence, you will be competing against such giants and should have a really good offer to seal the deal.
The other method of advertising is through an affiliate program. While this removes the disadvantage of finding your own advertiser, it is still a challenge to make money from as one of the first things the affiliate programs tell you is that you are not guaranteed to make money off of them. Hence, if you are willing to take the risk, you are in a position to make some money out of it, if you are lucky.
The third option is the least paying of the lot. This is a scheme where you are paid only if someone clicks the ads. Hence, at the most, you can stand to make a couple of dollars for a few hundred clicks. To make real money blogging for profit, you may need to get at least several thousand clicks per week, which is a bit too much to ask from a blog and its readers.
Unless your are prepared to put in many more hours a day to achieve this.
Become The Authority In Your Niche With A Positive Image
The other aspect you need to worry about is the image of your blog itself. Having all these ads cluttering up the front page will make you look like a sell out and someone only blogging for the money. People may view your articles as an attempt to make money rather than truly write something worthwhile. Hence, you need to learn to cap the negative publicity as well.
Before you venture into anything new always take time to adequately research what you’re getting yourself into. You want to make sure that you have a full understanding of what is required and what you’re opening yourself up to especially if you are intending to spend your own money to get started.
Blogging for profit doesn’t have to be a negative experience if you take the time to understand the in’s and outs.
