Affiliate marketing has attracted many people from all over the globe trying to find fame and fortune but unfortunately what they really find is that they have no time…
If you are new to affiliate marketing I will understand totally if you disagree with this, but you really need to read on to find out why this is happening to so many affiliate marketers including me, the author of this article.
As you start out with affiliate marketing you have the intention of finding the red-hot niche and making your fortune right, but what actually happens is that you find that red-hot niche is not working so well as you thought, so you start another. Then you also realize the new one doesn’t work either.
So Why Do You Become Time Poor?
You start researching keywords, looking at everything you can to improve the websites you have already created and hoped to retire on.
What this leads to is endless hours of research with no work being done to grow your online empire. Then you hear about a good product that is going to change all of that for you and you race out and buy it, only to find you have to spend countless hours learning how to use it.
And by the time you have it all sorted and ready to go, you realize it was not as effective as you thought, mainly because everyone else is now doing it and you are right back where you started.
So How Do You Over Come This Huge Dilemma…
Well lets put this all into perspective first. If you were to purchase a business that was not on the internet would you do what we have just spoken about. That is only place limited products on the shelves then move on to purchase another shop only to do the same thing.
If you did, I could guarantee you that within a very short period of time you would be flat broke and living on the street. Hopefully you can see the comparison here, an online business is no different to a brick and mortar one.
So Let’s Get Right The First Time…
Before you ever consider purchasing a domain name and hosting you will need to do some market research on what it is you hope to market as an affiliate. What you are looking for of course is a niche that is not to competitive and actually has sales so you can make some money.
One Question that is always asked is this, there is not enough traffic, customers technical knowledge and time.
Yes these are all very good points to consider when first stating out as an affiliate marketer… So how do you overcome this?
Firstly you need to find a website or for lack of a better word an “Affiliate Marketing Guru” that actually gives you good quality advice without the huge cost of having to buy their programs or services. Once you find an affiliate that gives you real world information unsubscribe from everyone else so there are no more distractions.
Here is a snippet of an email I received and why many affiliates can get distracted easily…
Hi Ron,There are so many people offering lists and solutions to help the affiliate marketer, but what is trustworthy and what isn’t. How much would you say is worth spending on having your site promoted and emailed out to a target audience? I feel like I’m in a sweets shop and there is too much to choose from!
Choosing Your Affiliate Marketing Platform
Next you need to decide on a platform for your website we recommend and use WordPress with templates from Studiopress, why because their support is the best we have seen which makes putting your first affiliate site together very simple, even for the newbie. Some say the Thesis is the best SEO WordPress template for affiliate’s but we found it very hard to use for the newbie simply because it offers to many options which leads to distractions you just don’t need.
Finding Good Niche Specific Content For Your Site
This is another area where there seems to be much confusion. You need quality content and there are many places that you can get it from without having to spend countless hours researching and looking for what you need. However if you are going to be using PLR content then remember that many others are probably using that content as well so you need to make it your own.
If you can’t re-write the content yourself then you need to hire a Ghost writer or a less expensive alternative is using the Best Spinner it is affordable and you will realize over time how valuable this tool is to your affiliate business.
Getting Back Links To Your Site
This is another technique that people are simply confused by, where you send out email after email trying to get someone to link to you, known as reciprocal links. This is a very ineffective technique and I will actually say a complete waste of time if you want to have a quality affiliate site. You need to be getting one way back links to your site and you can do this in one of two ways.
Write compelling content that people will want to link to, or join services such as Unique Article Wizard, SEOLinkVine, MyArticle Network where you can submit your articles that will then be placed on niche specific blogs all across the net. To be effective in these article submission sites you will need to be using The Best Spinner.

Maintaining focus in the beginning is probably a newbie’s biggest challenge. There are simply too many distractions and opportunities for going off on fruitless tangents. Been there – done that.
Personally I’m not a fan for article spinners and back link schemes. I may be wrong but I believe having quality content on your sites that is worth reading will ultimately win out over all those sites built on “fast-track” contrived to beat Google schemes. The Warrior Forum seems over-saturated with that stuff.
Currently I have a fairly new site in the “weight loss” niche with many posts ranking well for a very competitive keyword and I’ve actually done very little off site SEO apart from a few blog comments.
Totally agree with your “…you need to find a website or for lack of a better word a “Affiliate Marketing Guru” that actually gives you good quality advice …” advice. I follow very few and your site here is one from which I constantly draw inspiration.
Best Wishes for 2012 and have a Happy Birthday tomorrow:)

Hi JR
Yes one of the biggest problems for affiliates is the amount of distractions that flood your inbox everyday from so called a “GURUS”. What I suggest is to start using the unsubscribe option in many of those marketing emails so that you can not only limit the amount of distractions but also sort out the right information from the complete B.S.
As for link building I use not only spinners but I also use a lot of guest posts on very influential blogs across the net. So in reality you are right about quality content. If it is compelling enough it should go viral across the internet in a very short period of time.
I see you are now also using CommentLuv Premium for your blog so you now have access to many influential bloggers using this plugin in many different niches making your blog comments much more effective for your own site.
