Webmaster Tools Looses Page Rank Feature Is This A Good Thing

Google Drops Page Rank From Webmaster Tools… Will This Effect You?

If you are new to affiliate marketing then this will probably be the best news you have read today…

So many people base everything on this one little thing found in Webmaster Tools when it comes to promoting their sites “Google Page Rank” it can become such an obsession for some that they only think about one thing getting that green bar of Google love.

They spend all their time trying to get other sites with PR to link to them and actually neglect one very important aspect of marketing. Providing quality content for their users or subscribers.

My Google Page Rank Obsession

I would have to admit that when I first started out online I made the exact same mistake by only being focused on getting page rank that over time had actually became a huge distraction to my online business, especially when you have so many emails coming in offering you back-links from PR sites it was hard to resist for sure.

One of my sites I had spent many hours everyday building links sending out emails and yes I did get a great page rank for my troubles which lasted about 5 months with a PR 4 for my site, I was  over the moon to see how the PR had grown.

However as they say nothing lasts forever and I actually lost that page rank to my site due to the fact that I had not had any time to update it so the site went stale and dropped dramatically in the Serps and with that went the page rank.

Changing My Mindset Towards Google Page Rank

However I also realized that if I was to add quality content to actually build value into my business then the page rank would come anyway. So I actually changed my complete ideals on how I would go about my business online and that was without the Google PR playing any part of my marketing strategies.

So How Unimportant Is The Green Bar Of Google Love

Well I could start a massive debate on this as there are many different opinions and with SEO Experts all over the planet basing their high consultant fees on this very fact I will leave it alone. What I have done is taken a screen shot of the listings for this site so that you can see for yourself what is really going on.

Webmaster Tools
As you can see by the screen shot our site that is a PR2 site is now out ranking Commission Junction that is A PR7 site and if you want to look around in any of the search engine results you will notice this many times over in many different niches.

So What Should You Use The Webmaster Tools For?

Webmaster tools gives you much more than just finding out your page ranking and if you don’t have one you should be signing up after reading this post. If you have any broken links you will know, If you want an idea on incoming links you can see this as well. So you can see where your pages are indexed, how many pages are indexed the number of pages Google is crawling each day and even crawl errors.

Below Matt Cutts explains some features of Google Webmaster Tools.

These are just some thought that I have on the importance of this and we would really like to here from you about how you think the dropping of Google PR from webmaster tools affects you and your online business.
