Are You Starting A Web Log For Business Or Pleasure

October 18, 2009 By Ron Leave a Comment

Starting a Web Log to practice your writing skills and get a lot more familiar with the internet, especially for those that are considering a affiliate marketing career is a great idea.

As an affiliate this lets you find out what others have to say about your opinions and ideas which can help in your marketing efforts.

This can also be a great tool for marketing for any business not just affiliate marketing, which is why many business owners use blogging to let customers know about deals and promotions, as well as new products that are being released.

Creating a web log will only cost you a small amount, and you can start the blog in minutes.

Choosing Your Preferred Blog Platform

web logFirst, you’ll need to pick the web log software that you want to use. There are lots of free options on the internet, so you’re sure to find a service that is easy for you to use.

Word Press is one of the most popular sites on the Web right now and especially for online marketers, and is great for bloggers that are looking for more flexibility.

If you want to customize your page, or tweak some of the features to reflect your personal style, you’ll be able to do this easily. Google’s Blogger is also a great program to use. It is a lot less complex, and if you’re new to the web log format, this is probably a good place to start.

Be sure to visit the website for the software that you’ve chosen, and then sign up and create a user-name and password. You will also need to fill out an online form before you can start your web log, which will require you to provide the site with a valid email address. Then, you can select your password in order for the account to be active.

Don’t forget to give the weblog the display name that you’ll be using as well, so that you can tell your friends, family, and customers how to find your blog.

Creating Your Online Presence With A Web Log

Next, you’ll need to think of a catchy and interesting name for your web log. This is your chance to be creative, and create a real presence for yourself on the Web. You’ll need to enter the name you’ve chosen on your Web form, so that the blogger site can check to see if the name is available. If the name has not already been taken, you can incorporate your blog name into the link for your blog, so that people will remember it.

Choosing The Design Of Your Blog

After you know where to direct your readers, you’ll need to select a blog template for your web log before it becomes public. The blog template is the way that your blog will look to readers, and chances are you’ll have plenty of colors and designs to choose from. If you decide that you want to change the overall look of your company, you can always re-vamp the design at any time.

One of the best companies we have seen for design and complete support for customizing your Word Press blog templates is Studiopress. We are actually using one of their templates here on Affiliate X Files called the Platinum Theme which we have customized for our purpose with very little coding knowledge needed to build this web log.
