Tips For Building A Targeted Email List Fast

November 25, 2009 By Ron 2 Comments

As an affiliate you have heard it many times, but why SHOULD you capture the lead and create a targeted email list?

What is the real benefit of building a targeted email list for your online business?

Or further more… Is there a “downside” to building a list?

Here Are Some Crucial Things You Should Know

First off let me give you some BAD news about building your opt-in email list and a down effect it can have. If you think in terms of numbers and traffic that is not targeted you will fail miserably.

It is the truth and here is why.

targeted email listWhen you are building the list of subscribers and they are getting as an example a “free diet plan” from your site. The niche is not targeted. Yes you know they are people with a weight loss issue!

You know they are in the real need of solution, but what you don’t know for later is what else they will be interested in. This means, you will be paying your monthly auto-responder service provider a fee, and WILL NOT be able to make enough to cover the cost!

A better approach to list building is to find a niche of people with a problem first. By taking the time to actually find a more targeted niche such as “women after pregnancy”. Now here is the thing.

You know they are moms, you know they want to lose weight with your free diet plan, you know they will want to “tighten” their stomach, you know that every Christmas they will be shopping like crazy for toys, they might even be interested in earning a little extra cash from home. And so many other things!

When you have a targeted niche, you can expand on that niche. With a targeted niche, not only will you build your targeted email list, but YOU will make it VERY PROFITABLE as well.

Don’t get me wrong. A broad market will convert to. But you might only have a 1% conversion rate compared to having 3-5% or even as high as 10-15% conversion rates on products you promote to them!

This Is Also About Relationship Building

Further more…When you are building a targeted email list, you are also building a  lasting relationship with that list. You can easily connect with new moms, than with a big crowd. I mean, you have been at the party before and you know there are just a few people you can get that connection with. You can NEVER EVER connect with the whole room! Different interest, different personalities and so much more.

If you can connect with your targeted email list! If you can make them get to know you, to trust you and follow your recommendations over a time, you will have a list that helps you get checks printed on demand!

Now, I know there is that FEAR off building your targeted email list. Don’t get scared of list building. It is not as hard as it seems! Actually there are only few steps involved!

Most people get stuck on the “technical” part of list building… Making their squeeze page PERFECT. You know, I got to tell you, some of my squeeze pages are just plain white with 5-9 bullet points and red headline text. They convert at 50-70%!

Wonder why? It is not about having a perfect squeeze page… If you offer them something that they would normally pay for. A real solution to their problem, they will sign up!

So a person searching for a way to lose weight after pregnancy will want just one thing. A real plan to really drop those pounds. Give it to them… up sell a natural tummy tuck! Your lead will be interested in that as well.

I hope this really helps you understand the importance of building a niche targeted list. I also strongly recommend you get  a free copy of  the Ultimate List Building Guide. It helps you as an affiliate marketer build that targeted email list a lot faster!
