September 14, 2009 By Ron Leave a Comment

Blogging can be fun to begin with as it lets you be creative in what kind of blog you want to start, however it helps if you get the right blogging tips.

So what kind of question are we asked when it comes to blogging, keep reading to get the answers to these questions.

The most common question that is asked by most new bloggers and especially those that are planning on creating their blogs to sell products as an affiliate marketer is how to get readers to their blog, after all readers equal traffic and traffic in the affiliate marketing world equates to dollars in the bank.

It does take time to get new readership to any blog but it can be done in a matter of a week if you know how to do it!

Are You New To Blogging

When you first begin blogging, wait until you have at least a week’s worth of blog posts before you start announcing your new blog.

So really you need a minimum of seven posts but preferably 14 so your site has a full look and feel and does not look like it is still being put together. It wouldn’t be ideal to announce it with only one post up.

This way, readers can get an idea of what you are writing about and can see that your blog is being updated with fresh content on a daily basis.

First off and it really doesn’t matter whether you are in an affiliate business or just blogging for fun this is one of those blogging tips for all bloggers, make sure your blog link is in your signature when you send off emails. If you are involved in an online forum, you should add your blog link to it to direct forum members to it. Write something catchy next to your blog name so people are curious enough to visit.

However be warned not to go overboard with this as especially with forums you can be flagged as spamming if your forum posts are not relevant to the subject or add value to what is already there.

How To Get Exposure And Traffic

Sign up for some blog directories that allow a blog to be listed for free. In exchange they ask for you to place their banner or text link on your blog. It’s a small price for the traffic you will get from it. Blog Catalog is a popular choice for many bloggers and is very interactive with a blog community. When you sign up, Blog Catalog will ask you for the name of your blog, link and description.

It takes around one day or maybe two days for approval depending on when you actually complete their sign-up. If you don’t have enough content, they will not approve you and if you look to commercial in nature you could also be declined.

Once you get approved, fill out your profile information and add a photo for your avatar.

Start searching for fellow bloggers!

You will notice photo avatars who have visited your profile and blog. You can follow their link and check their blogging efforts out and ‘add them as a friend’ on Blog Catalog. Build up your own network community and you will see your blog readership grow.

If you go to Google and do a search on free blog directories, it will bring up many active ones. Choose the ones you feel are appropriate for your affiliate blog. There are many niche blog directories now. For example, if you write a wedding blog, you can add yours to many wedding blog directories. When you do your Google search on directories, add the niche to it.

Submit A Sitemap

Don’t forget to add your affiliate blog link to the popular search engines. There is Google, Yahoo and MSN/Bing. Depending on the content of your blog, it could be indexed in a matter of days. However you need to remember not to spam the Google search engines with your blog. You usually only need to submit your home URL to them.

Things To Avoid

There are many websites that offer sending your website link to over 50 search engines. If you choose that route, make sure to read their terms and conditions as well. This is not a tactic that we use as there is a much easier way but it’s an option if you want to use it.

A much easier way to get your blog indexed fast and especially if you are using a WordPress blog is to download a plugin called XML Sitemap this will actually take care of all your requirements when it comes to submitting your affiliate blog to the major search engines.

Th you don’t have to worry about having to create any additional work for yourself as well as no need to have HTML or coding knowledge and you can get on with your blogging. It also helps if you have accounts with these major search engines which you can read more about here Advanced Marketing Tactics.

Write Quality Content

If you are posting quality content to your blogs that is actually useful to your intended audience you will see in no time, there will be readers to your blog. Always ensure you are using services that allow you to add a place for your readers to subscribe to your blog so that you don’t lose them.

You will notice this at the top of our affiliate blog with “Subscribe To News”and “Subscribe To Comments” also beneath any blog posts that we have on the site in the form of social bookmarking sites.

Follow these few simple blogging tips and your blogging experience will be increased dramatically without too much effort having to be used on your behalf.
