Affiliate Marketing Tips That Get Long Term Results

July 17, 2009 By Ron 6 Comments

Affiliate marketing tips to help you start your very first online business.

How much can you make from writing and placing articles with affiliate links on your website differs from web site to web site and even with the webmasters views and opinions.

Just how much you are in a position to generate will depend mostly on how successful your affiliate business website is in its niche market and the quality of the content that is written. What you have to do is increase your site rankings with the use of SEO and one way back links from article directory submission or other sites such as blogs picking up and linking to your quality articles.

Make Your Site Content Interesting To Your Readers

This is why you have to ensure that your site is informative and contains the information the visitor is seeking, you should only ever be adding informative and engaging “unique content” that will over time create an excellent website and online business for you around your selected niche or site theme.

There are affiliate marketers out there that say they make on average of $1000 per month or more from clickbank by creating and promoting niche web sites with nothing more than unique articles.

Still, most people can’t expect this kind of achievement straight off the bat, especially if you are very new to the online world, as those kinds of returns usually only come with experience and a developed ability for the niche.

A reasonable income you could expect from a niche site you create, and if you have covered all the rules of marketing and of course after putting in the work for a couple of months to gain traffic, and are hooked up with good merchants, may be $2,000 per month.

Creating A Recurring Income Can Make All The Difference

The key is to not overlook that this income can be recurring if you have done your home work right, it comes to you every month and each month should be more than the last unless you have chosen the wrong product. Regardless of this once you have put in the time to create a working site the visitors will come and the income will be generated.

Lets Get Serious And Build A Real Website

After you have built your first successful website and what I mean by successful is it is generating a solid income of $1000 a month you should then start planning your second niche site. The more websites that you can create, the better the revenue will be to you.

Lets say that it takes you two months to build your first site and then the second and then the third, hopefully you have a system in place that is allowing you to now build one site a month and I am talking a minimum of 20 pages not including contact details, disclaimer, privacy and sitemap.

So at the end of twelve months you have created 8 sites all generating an income of $1000 a month do you think you can leave your day job earning $8,000 thousand a month?

I know I did!

Why Small Sites Are No Longer Very Effective

There are affiliates that would rather build small sites over quality sites that are built fast or by automated software rather than taking the time to build somewhat more lengthy ones. For those affiliates all I can say is go and read my Evolving as an Affiliate Marketer and you might change your ways.

Update October 2014: it’s now 2014 and I wrote this post back in 2009, it’s now the best strategy to have much bigger sites than a number of smaller ones.

As the internet changes you need to be aware that “BIGGER IS BETTER” when it comes to websites these types of sites will help you establish yourself online and increase your affiliate income.

After all, if you are only going to be building one page websites would you really call that a business or a hobby they don’t have a very long shelf life and you can’t use them for any other product promotions as they are to specific in nature. Where’s the credibility in that and your website visitors are becoming smarter and more diligent and tend to avoid sites like that.

When you first start out marketing online it can be very confusing and your hardest task will be building your first website, for the reason you are merely learning the ropes of the business, and not everyone is cut out to market and advertise niche websites, it takes time to learn.

One of the most important affiliate marketing tips to remember is that there is always a risk that what you are marketing online may not be successful and that you will lose your money that you have invested, there is nothing different there to everyday life.

One way to avoid losing your shirt is to not listen to all the Guru hype that can be found online stick to one mentor and follow them consistently and if they don’t work out find another until you are comfortable, remember you should be building a long-term business model so it is going to take time to achieve.

The important thing to remember is that you do not give up without giving it a good shot and be PATIENT the internet can be slow especially with your first attempt, if this is really what you desire to do then stay focused. The very first niche or business website that you create may take some time, the work will be hard and there will be times that you feel like stopping even today I can tell you after 5 years I could still just chuck it all in, but the next day I am full steam ahead again its just the nature of the business.

If you are finding it hard shot me a few questions here I will help you out if I can, just don’t stop because you will never know the success you might have had by being persistent. And who knows, you may be the next Super Affiliate Guru! And word of warning to this… it is very easy to try to fast track your efforts try to avoid this because usually you can end up having your websites banned which are some of the affiliate marketing mistakes you should avoid at all cost.

Yes, it does take time for one to learn the basics of affiliate marketing.

But even if you think that it is going to be difficult and you may not succeed, the affiliate marketer should always stay positive and focused in order to achieve what he wants.

    Great post by the way!

One lesson that seems to be hard to learn for affiliates is staying focused even I would have to say I wasted a few years years chasing my tail being distracted by every new product or concept that hit the market. What that in effect does is stops you from being able to build your authority site and brand you as an expert and you never really get to have a residual income as you are chasing trends constantly which fad and usually fast so then you have to start all over again on a new product.

Pick your niche stay focused on what it is that you want to achieve and once you have obtained the desired results then and only then move onto your next project.

So many bloggers and site owners neglect the ‘make your site interesting’. I see so many sites that are clearly designed for SEO purposes – to the extent where regular people can’t really read articles properly or the content gets crowded out by an overuse of keywords.

      Hi Lara…

Yes you are right in saying this, and really it is a complete waste of time simply because the pages are getting overcrowded with keywords which has a very negative effect on the seo rankings anyway. If you want to learn how to do SEO the right way and have a wordpress blog then install the plugin called SEOPressor, not only does it optimize your page correctly but over time it will teach you how to do SEO onpage optimization correctly.

Using that and article marketing will give you some very good results without risking all trying to stuff keywords into a page.
