Affiliate Marketing Myths Finding The Truth

June 9, 2009 By Ron 2 Comments

There’s quite a few false notions within affiliate marketing, that attract many individuals into thinking they are true.

Don’t Get Fooled

The first thing is they think managing an Internet business is easy and secondly, they think that one is able to accumulate a huge fortune through online marketing quickly. Most likely not even a tenth of the people who are into affiliate marketing got rich quickly.

And just to add, I have been doing this for five years now and have averaged just over $100,000 USD a year not the millions of dollars that some lay claim to.

If you are planning to start an affiliate program, one thing that you need to consider is hosting you very own website, not just a basic site, but a professional looking one.

It would be better if you currently have some idea as to what goods or services you are going to advertise since that would help you plan the domain name, design and lay-out of your website and pages.

The very next thing to do is select your domain name and get it hosted, we use a Hostgator reseller account, however having the right keywords within the domain name would provide you with a much better chance of getting more visitors in your niche.

Additionally, select a good extension, such as .com followed by .net, .org in that order of preference because it is these extensions that are more popular with your end users. Or if you have a country specific product use the extension to market that product.

Now, you could begin making the web pages, and if you don’t know that much about website creation, there’s page creation tools and fast launch sites on the Internet – you only need to search for them starting with WordPress as its free. Countless online sources can help you build an internet site, however you may require time to study and learn the whole procedure.

That’s one of the reasons that the site or the products you are planning to advertise should correspond with your interests. If you don’t have time to make your own website, you can utilize templates or  purchase pre-made sites, though the latter is a more expensive option.

It’s All  About Staying On Topic

The key to bringing visitors to your online business is to feature good quality niche content (Not Duplicate Content) – therefore, the next item that you have to attend to in building your marketing website is this: There may be several other factors which contribute to the success of your website, although decent written material will top that list and is precisely the reason users opt to go onto your website, as well as why search engines will index you higher.

The end users only goal is to obtain information therefore when they do not find what they are looking for, they’ll certainly go to a different site, therefore make interesting relevant written articles that relate to the site’s niche topic since that is what is going to bring them to your website to start with.

If you have previously looked for affiliate programs which help your visitors and all importantly complement your site, build links to these affiliate websites and many other great informative websites since links will contribute to how well you will be listed in the major search engines as well.

Additionally, create web pages for the products or services you are promoting, but don’t only advertise those products by putting up hyped-up ads.

Keep your visitors intrigued by injecting lots of relevant and helpful info such as product reviews or even how to articles as this will make them click on the hyperlink to the site and purchase the product giving you a commission for your trouble.

Statistically it has been found that websites that review products and that are trusted due to their quality content get more listings in the Serps which also result in many more sales. Here are some that I have created on this site: Income Blogging Guide , Google+, List Building For Bloggers all of these products are related to marketing in some way.

Now your affiliate site is finished, submit its site map to Yahoo, Google and Bing to get indexed fast and to help increase your traffic.

Use tools such as Wordtracker or Market Samurai to find suitable keywords for better SEO of your website and put these into the written articles on your site. Update your site on a regular basis or include new web pages, and make sure to inform your prospects of the newest updates on your site.
