For me my method of promotion has been straightforward. I choose a few low competition highly targeted keywords, and try to make a website rank for those keywords using SEO practices including building quality backlinks.
SEO for me has been my preferred method of bringing in traffic to my offers because I can ensure through proper keyword selection that I only receive the most targeted traffic possible.
As for email list building, I simply use a series of autoresponder messages to provide relevant free information to my potential customers, and then ultimately close the sale.

Yes it is really as simple as that especially if you have selected a niche market with few competitors you will get good search listings fast with article marketing. To make sure we are getting the most from each page we write on our blog we also use a plugin called SEOPressor which shows you exactly what you need to do with on page SEO to get a better listing for your site.
We also use email marketing to send out updates and new posts that we have written on on occasion we also send out information on any products or services that we think might be useful to our subscribers.
Michael may I ask you a question? Are you just starting out as an affiliate marketer or have you been doing this for a while, and is the blog you have listed your only site.
I am not just starting out, but I am definitely still learning. I first started early in 2007 with affiliate marketing. I mostly did a few random things with no real path focused on a particular method. Now I am starting on SEO as a method because the traffic is extremely targeted with the right keywords. For keywords I just use direct product keywords so I target product titles only, one website per product. This is my first website and I am using blogger until I can earn some money to get some decent hosting. Right now I am EXTREMELY happy as I write this because I just met the Clickbank CDR policy and so now I am waiting my very first Clickbank check and I hope to receive many more.

There is one thing you have stated in your post that is very important, and that many don’t seem to realize. This word is “FOCUS” you need to be totally focused on everything you are trying to achieve online or you will most likely fail at what you are doing.
You are on the right track with choosing very targeted keywords for your sites which relate to your products you are going to promote. So from what you are saying is that you are going to be building mini-sites, can I ask if they are blogs or Static HTML sites?
Remember one thing though Michael if you are building a site on the free services such as Blogger™ you do not own it, and with a policy change such as what happened on Squidoo some time back you could loose all of your hard work and your commissions, never place all your eggs into one basket.

allthough i would strongly say that having a large website that ranks well in the search engines is the cash bringer. it’s not an easy task, but if you can generate origianl content on a daily basis and offer great products for a great price, there is no reason why it wouldnt work.

Yes the more content you have on your site the more social influence you can generate which in turn should bring in more traffic to your site. if you choose your products wisely then you could also have the benefit of making a income for your efforts.

Yet, these are not the only things that can be applied and implemented in the promotion of an affiliate program. I always say that combining two or more of different types of advertising methods will help broaden your reach and maximize your results. I suggest using both free and paid marketing tactics in order to expose your affiliate link to a wider market.
Never ever combine all your efforts into one strategy you need to be looking at creating quality content for your site which in turn will help you build links to those pages as well as building up your social influence online by participating in social networking.
Today there are many different strategies you can use to promote your affiliate programs, you simply need to test what works for you market. Yes many people online don’t realize the importance of promoting online as well as offline both go hand in hand. Unfortunately many believe that simply building a website is enough to find success and never explore other avenues to get there products or services in front of potential buyers.
I have found that in some area of business people are still very conservative. And this is an example where you might have to use “good old” direct mail to get their attention. Subsequently – after having established the contact – you can try to move their attention to the web site.

Yes you are right there are people who will not use the internet to buy or even look for products preferring the more conventional ways such as phone books and newspapers. Some can be converted over but I think it is more of a fear of change rather than not wanting to use the internet.
Once people get into a comfort zone it is very hard to move them unless you can show them huge benefits.
