Making Money From Affiliate Ads

March 21, 2010 By Ron Leave a Comment

Even though some would like you to believe differently, affiliate ads are not likely to lead to instant wealth online, however, joining the right affiliate programs can help you earn many thousands of dollars every month on a medium sized affiliate website and even in a relatively short period.

Affiliate AdsThe more content you place on your website. Generally, the higher the traffic flow will be from the amount of content that has been indexed by the search engines.

The more significant your visitor traffic flow is, the more likely the affiliate ads will be clicked which is what is going to make your efforts a success. However, you will need to be aware that the actual level of success will depend solely on two things – the website’s content quality and whether its affiliate ads complement the site efficiently.

Always Choose Affiliate Ads That Are Related To Your Website Content

It’s essential to select affiliate programs that are consistent with a website’s theme and style. They should be related to the website’s information and content as much as possible. Innovation and creativity are a good thing, but the interests and needs of the visitors of a site must remain the absolute focal point as an affiliate.

All Affiliate Ads On Your Site Should Be A Compliment, Not Become A Competitor

Another piece of advice to keep in mind is to make sure that all the ads are clean and “family-friendly”. Adding any porn or other adults only content is not a right way to profit long-term from any general interest websites. A family friendly site will always stand a much better chance of consistently showing in the most significant number of search engine results across the internet.

Unless the website is, in fact, an actual adult-themed business, keep adult ads off it altogether. The reasoning for this is straightforward but not to well understood, the website will be listed as an adult-oriented website by the search engines, regardless of its actual content due to these affiliate ads being displayed.

This is something that many webmasters do not realise and try and use to beef up their affiliate income by using adult affiliate programs.

Always Maintain A Professional Appearance With Your Website

Keep the site looking clean and clutter-free as possible. Adding too many affiliate ads to a page and using annoying entry and exit pop-ups as well as flash ads will eventually just distract and annoy your visitors who will just end up going elsewhere to find the information they want without having to deal with those intrusive ads.

Most of today’s online surfers are smart enough to be able to find the information they want in only a few seconds which makes their attention spans very limited.

If your site visitor does not find what they want within the first few seconds that they arrive at your site, you will lose them to another site, and that’s a fact.

If when a visitor arrives at your site, they can not find what they’re looking for in one place they will more often than not quickly move on to look elsewhere.

You need to keep your website up to date with fresh, content-rich, and only use affiliate banner ads as an added feature which needs to be very cleverly selected and placed, so they do not take any from the site’s content or have the appearance of being an extension of the site.

It needs to look like something that is helpful or another informative option for your site visitor, not just for making money. If you need to place more affiliate links on the page, then it would be better to hyperlink them throughout the content of the page, but again only in moderation do not overdo it.

Don’t Hesitate To Change If The Affiliate Ads Are Not Performing

If an affiliate’s banner ads are not working well on a page or section of your website, they should be moved around, changed, or even removed. You need to give the affiliate programs some time to provide you with a result, so wait until you have at least 100 impressions before you decide to drop it from your site.

You should also be very open-minded about working with the product vendors as this is important to ensure that both you and their affiliate product benefit from the relationship.

Is It Alright To Change Your Affiliate Ads

Nearly all the affiliate programs or affiliate networks offer a diverse range of links as well as banners, and buttons that you can select from. More experienced affiliate marketers than you have already spent time and money on researching these to determine which affiliate ads are going to sell the best in that niche.

Most of these vendors will use their style of branding which often includes specific phrases, colours, images, and even on occasion fonts.

There are very few exceptions to this, affiliate programs do not permit changes to their ads, even though it is technically simple to do for many. If any unauthorised changes are made, the vendor of the affiliate program may refuse to pay you for any leads that you have generated from those altered ads.

So if you need any affiliate ads to be changed or modified merely send an email to the product vendor describing to them want you need to be revised or updated. Most will be more than happy to help you out if it is a reasonable enough request.

In Conclusion, the affiliate ads you will choose to show on a website can say a lot about both the online business and the webmaster who is managing it. It’s important to be selective and think long-term, rather than reaching for fast bucks and getting your site visitors off-side.

Webmasters should always focus on affiliate ads that serve the needs of their site visitors to get the most out of any affiliate programs they join.
